Abstract


The Egyptian short story writer Ibrahim El Meṭuli has received numerous awards for his stories. In addition to manyother accolades, he achieved significant success by winningfirst place in the Sharjah Arab Creativity Competition in both2011 and 2022. Furthermore, he was awarded first place in theshort story competition organized by Al-Arabi Al-Kuwaitiyyamagazine in 2014. In this study, an analysis of Ibrahim El Meṭuli's story "En-Naẓir" (The Director) has been conducted. The story vividly describes the events and situations thatunfold within a day, focusing on a female seller dressed in black, as seen through the eyes of the author. The studentsincited by the director and attack and disperse the womenselling sweets, disrupting their goods. The story concludes bydepicting the poignant scene of the black-clad female seller. This study encompasses the theme, summary, characters, narrative techniques, and language features of the story. Additionally, the evaluation, the author's biography, theArabic text of the story, and the translation from Arabic toTurkish have been included at the end of the study.
