Abstract

ABSTRACT

Mustafa Mahmud, who lived between 1921-2009, is an Egyptian man of letters, journalist, writer and thinker. Besides all these identities, he is actually a chest doctor. His interest in literature influenced him to progress in many different paths. His writings bear traces of real life and contain clear messages. In this vein, his story titled ‘Amâl Sâliha Cidden (Very Good Deeds) is a work in which he describes the disruptions, difficulties, and underestimated lives of the period in the psychodrama genre. It is a short article in which he explains some intangible facts, some difficulties that cannot be clearly expressed, and ignored mistakes, through psychodrama, with a touch of black humor. In this study, the story is examined in terms of form, content, subject and plot, characters, places, some narrative techniques used and some literary arts used in the story.
