Abstract

This story tells the difficult lives of two siblings, Hayzaran and Numan. Hayzaran is a 14-year-old girl, and her brother Numan is a 12-year-old boy. Their father has passed away, and they live under the harsh treatment of their mother in a small hut. Their only source of income is a cow that their father left them. Their mother constantly forces them to work long hours and doesn't give them any time to enjoy themselves.

Hayzaran helps the family by selling milk from the cow, while Numan sells legumes, fruits, and eggs. Their mother contributes by washing dishes and cooking for the neighbors.

Numan falls ill with malaria. Their mother asks Hayzaran to find free honey for her brother on her way home. However, Hayzaran drops the milk jug in front of her house, and the milk spills on the ground. Her mother slaps her, curses her, and attacks her.

Hayzaran runs away to the valley to escape her mother's cruelty and contemplates suicide. However, her love for her brother Numan stops her from doing so. She finds a beehive in the rocks in the valley and tries to get some honey. However, she is stung by the bees and comes face to face with death. When she returns home, Hayzaran, who is dying, sacrifices her own life for the recovery of her brother Numan.
