Analysis Of Jarjis Nâsîf’s “Mâzen And Water Mâzen And Air” Story

Abstract
Born in Syria in 1932, poet and literary critic Jarjis Nâsîf graduated from the Department of Arabic Language at Damascus University and worked as a teacher in Syria and Lebanon. He wrote works in general and especially in the genre of children's literature. His "Mâzen" and "Sami" series are among his most well-known works in the genre of children's literature. In this study, the story "Mâzen vel ma' Mâzen vel hewa" from Nâsîf's Mâzen Series is analyzed. In the story, Mâzen, an intelligent and curious child of a Lebanese family, has interesting and instructive dialogues with a spring and the air. In the story, Mâzen asks questions to the spring and the air, which have the ability to speak like a human being, and with the answers he receives from them, he learns many things about the importance and cycle of air and water in life. In this work, the author uses literary means to convey information about natural sciences to the reader in an entertaining way. This article analyzes the plot, characters, plot, narrative techniques and language style of the story. At the end of the study, there is also an evaluation of the work, author biography, original text and Turkish translation of the work.
