Abstract

Dr. Şahin Sarı’s book “Artificial Intelligence in Idiom Translation” examines the effectiveness of AI-based translation tools in conveying cultural and idiomatic expressions compared to human translations. Conducted through an analysis of four Netflix films released between 2021 and 2022, the study reveals that human translations still outperform AI in terms of contextual consistency and cultural transfer. Findings indicate that among AI systems, Yandex achieved the highest success rate, though overall, machine translations struggled to fully grasp cultural meanings. The study highlights both the current limitations of AI translation and the continuing, guiding role of human translators in advancing translation technologies.
