Abstract
This article analyzes Lessons in Arabic Press Language (2024) written by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yasin Murat Demir from a pedagogical perspective. The book serves as a course textbook designed for students of Arabic Language and Literature, Arabic Language Teaching, Arabic Translation and Interpretation, and Theology departments. Comprising six chapters, the work aims to develop listening, reading, writing, and translation skills holistically through authentic texts selected from various Arabic news sources. The study emphasizes that the author structures the material in line with the constructivist learning approach, transforming the learner from a passive recipient into an active participant in the learning process. The exercises in each chapter—covering listening, reading, translation, visual matching, and sentence-building activities—support multi-sensory learning, while the inclusion of QR codes enhances students’ listening skills by integrating audio materials. Furthermore, providing answer keys immediately after each set of exercises enables instant feedback, promotes self-assessment, and strengthens learners’ independent study skills.In conclusion, the article demonstrates that Lessons in Arabic Press Language presents an effective and interactive teaching model that integrates the four core language skills and embodies a student-centered approach in Arabic language education.
