This study examines al-Mutanabbi's translation of "Song of Man" (Selected Poems) within the framework of Mehmet Hakkı Suçin's concept of "poetry." According to Suçin's theory, "poetry" is based on the holistic reproduction of form, rhythm, meaning, and aesthetic elements in poetry translation. In this study, two translations of poems from "Song of Man" were evaluated using criteria such as content balance, affect and harmony, communicative value, poetic sensitivity, and linguistic-aesthetic balance. The findings indicate that the translations largely preserve the themes and poetic intensity of the source text; however, some aesthetic and semantic differences arise depending on the norms of the target language. The study reveals that the translator is positioned as a creative "second poet" and contributes to the Turkish translation literature by considering poetry translation as an aesthetic-cultural rewriting process.
